Thank you! I did something similar, but did the labels lengthwise. Consequently, they look like little flags and get in the way. LOL Obviously I can't think out of the box; your way works MUCH better.

Excellent idea! I use a lot of dark sky blue and turquoise and end up with so many pieces which I cannot tell apart.

I Know that's better than what I've been doing....you're terrific for sharing this wonderful method. Do you have any idea if lables come in any colours except white?
I have a system of coloured tape on one end...blue for bullseye, masking for 96coe and mostly nada for 104 except special colours/reactive.

You can buy stickers/labels in pretty much any color you want I think, if you go to the right place.
That's a really smart idea for identifying different COE's/brands by colour.

Great tutorial -- thanks Amy! I've been wanting to start labeling for awhile now -- this might be the kick in the rear that I need 
Quick follow up question: Do you have any problem getting the labels back off when you get down to the end of the rod? (Like, do they leave sticky stuff or just refuse to come off entirely?)

Well, I find them easier to remove than the commercial labels I've encountered. But they are pretty small too, and right on the end, so I don't feel bad about wasting such a tiny amount of glass. I usually don't even bother.
