Default Gas consumption

I am evaluating a GTT Phantom vs a Mirage.

I think the Phantom will work for now but dont want to outgrow it down the road if I progress.

My question now is what is the O2 consumption difference between the two. I expect that the inner fire is no difference but how about when I am raging with the outer fire?

Well, what size work are you expecting to do?

Default Work

Right now - beads and large marbles. Have begun working with tubing and started blowing glass. Want to begin to work in goblets, etc.

A Phantom can do work up into the 15" (hollow) range. But, if you think you will be progressing beyond that, then you might lean towards the Mirage. It can work up to around 24" (hollow).

As for oxygen consumption... there are lots of variables to it.

When you are working on a smaller torch, you will be pushing it to keep something warm. When you are on a larger torch, then you might only need short bursts to do the same.

And to answer your question about oxygen consumption rates... the Phantom consumes 35 CFH and the Mirage consumes 55 CFH.

Default One more consumption question

KB -

Thanks for the input.

Do you know the consumption for a Lynx and a Nortel Minor. Those are torches I use now and will give me a good reference point.

Thanks for your help!

You're welcome, Bubba.

The Lynx consumes about 14 CFH (6.6 LPM) for its maximum flame. The Minor Burner consumes about 14.8 CFH (7 LPM) for its maximum flame. They are very close in consumption rates.

Some manufacturers already have the information posted on their websites. Others are planning to post it. All of them will supply the information upon request. You don't have to ask me for the information, but I am happy to help when I can.

The information for the Mini CC is posted on the Carlisle website. They say that consumption based on "standard usage" is approximately 1.5 LPM for propane and 7 LPM for oxygen. They recommend the operating pressures of 2 psi for fuel gas and 5 psi for oxygen.
