Default clean hose?

I have seen it mentioned about keeping your hoses clean. Ok, I give up...how do you clean your hoses?

I'm using a HH and a long hose and bulk propane. Since I can't leave my area set up all the time, I set up and tear down every torching session. I turn off the gas and burn off any fuel left in the hose. What else do I need to do? I'm trying do everything I can to be safe and clean. I'm having some issues with sooty glass so I was wondering if I had gunk in my hose.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have heard that you can drape your hose so any gunk runs out the lower end, but haven't done it myself.
Are you sure you're working far enough from the torch head, and don't have it turned up too high? All glass or specific ones?

Sooty glass on a hothead is common. Work farther out in the flame.

Probably not gunk in the hose. Gunk makes your torch turn into a fire breathing dragon that even when up close the valve it won't shut off and you have to shut it off at the tank. You can blow air (using a compressor) through the line as well. It's works well and is much faster in comparison to the hanging method.

How often should a hose on a propane tank be changed or thrown out?

Some hoses do not ever have an issue of gumming or gunking. Something about the additive being different maybe. As long as your hose passes the soap test on the regular. It should be fine. (With no visible cracking, seals look good..) some of this wear depends on the weather where u live too vs how long it lasts.
