Default Etching gold foil????

Can you do it?
If the gold foil is left on top of the bead, unecased and you etch the bead, will the foil etch off?
I've been too chicken to try it because gold foil is so expensive (for me at least - small time beadmaker) and I don't want to ruin my bead just to try. I have some beads that would look better etched, but I don't want to ruin the foil on the bead.
Has anybody done this before?

Hi Kristen,

I've done it... the gold foil stays the same-- the etching solution doesn't affect it at all. Kate Fowle etches beads with gold on them so that's how I knew what would happen.
