Default Name that artist! Go!

Anyone know who made these beads? I am wondering if he/she has a tutorial available. There was a thread way back when, talking about these beads but I cannot find it anywhere and do not remember who the artist was. Hoping to find him/her and beg for a tutorial. I'd happily pay for one! Thanks much!

Hi, I can't think of the name but nope, no tutorial. I have played around with it and I have no idea as I never got that effect, but got some nice beads anyway.

Question

Could that be dichroic glass, covered with silver mesh and encased with a transparent color?

to me it looked like some kind of texture tool, with little pyramid shaped things sticking up very close together, that would create a slight air trap when encased. The silver mesh is worth a visit tho. I think I have some in the studio. Thank you everyone!

I thought it looked like a texture tool too. Today I tried the little handheld grater I use for nutmeg since it's got teeny teeth things. Waay too big anyway.

I don't know who made them but I'm sure there was a tutorial somewhere.

It's silver glass rolled over a big bastard file. Then reduced and encased.

I didn't buy a tutorial, so I'm pretty sure it's not a secret.

I've tried a few different files/rasps but none produced the effect. Looking at bastard files, trying to find one that has that pattern. Excited! Thank you

One used for woodworking or horse's feet would have large spacing and diamond pointy shapes.

Rolling the bead on a metal frog will give you those tiny indentations close to each other, then encase.

The frogs are used in flower arranging.

Hope that helps!

i tried that, but the bubbles were farther apart and the base impression wasn't the same. I hope that made sense! LOL

Yes I know what you mean, that is the effect I got with the frog. Very pretty beads, not a lot of "texture" like the above beads. I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

I used to do those too, used a bastard file for the texture.

It took a bit of searching on Etsy because she doesn't have anything listed in her shop: Dragonfly73BeadFelt.

But my curiosity is piqued! And I want to know how these were made! (I lead a very boring life )

Thank you for the photo of the file! Now I know what exactly I'll be shopping for! The surface of the couple of files I have are most finer like the top one in the photo. Thanks again, Karen

Beautiful, Kristin! I think my biggest problem is that I'm trying to do this with boro, and it just doesn't flow into the crevices of the tools like soft. Great job!!!
