Bullseye Blacks & Whites
I need to get some BE black & white, but in the spirit of keeping things simple I'm inclined to just get one of each. But which one would be best? Or is there a good reason to have more than one black and one white?
Opaque white (0013) vs. translucent white (0243) vs. dense white (0313) vs. French vanilla (0137)
Black (0100) vs. Stiff black (0101)
TIA!

Opaque white (0013) --I hate this stuff because I fry it
translucent white (0243)--whispy looking
dense white (0313)--not as easy to burn
French vanilla (0137)-- ivory
I'm not sure about the blacks other than 1 is stiff and the other's...not.

I use French vanilla as opaque white as the current batch I have is a really really pale ivory. I also bought the sheet glass of the same number it is much more "vanilla" kinda of a light caramel.
I use regular Black and get pretty much consistent results. I have stiff black but have not played with it much.

I agree, stiff black and French Vanilla. I will have to put in a plug for the new Antique white because of the reactions you can get.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like I can limit it to stiff black & Fr vanilla for now.
Pam, I haven't heard of Antique white. What kind of reactions does it give?

I'd go for 0013 Opaque White Opal which will not wash out when it is thin.
A quick note on F. Vanilla, if you put any of the gold pink on it you get grey. Fortunately BE has pink striker which don't react to sulphur.
Pam, I'm also very interested in the Antique white. Can you tell us a bit more? Thanks!
Cheers
Nancy

Thanks Nancy,
Maybe I should pick up a little bit of 0013 too. I haven't placed my order yet, so why not?

Finally I have a pic that I think illustrates to some degree the Antique White glass. Here is a set of beads using only two colors, the white and the copper green lustre.
In all the beads the black line is made by the reaction between he lustre and the white. It is very reactive.

Thanks for the photo Pam. Those are gorgeous! Now I'm definitely rethinking the whites... guess I'll have to get a few rods to play around with.
