Default Bead Release in 2020... what's good?

I finally need a new jar. My current one is Foster Fire and it's pretty good, but it keeps drying out no matter how much I tighten the lid. What's hot these days in bead release? Soft glass, dabbling in boro

=)

No idea if there is anything new, I've been using Fusion for both soft and boro forever. Air dried. It seems to hold up really well to east coast humidity.

I second Fusion.

Ultra Blue (replacement for super blue) is pretty good too but doesn't clean as easily from the beads.

I love my Fosterfire Smooth & Tuff.
I sometimes have to add a little dribble of water to it, but others have had the same thing happen. I figure it is the container isn't perfectly air tight. I thought about putting it into a glass jar or finding another plastic one with a watertight seal, but for now I store it in a ziplock plastic bag which helps.

Speedslug (Phill) stores it upside down to prevent air infiltration.

Try storing it in the bag it came in. I buy long bags and loosely knot the bag so I can tie it and untie it. A bread bag will work if you threw the original away. Evaporation happens to all bead release.

Yes! I keep three kinds on hand for various needs. I have to regularly add distilled water to them to keep them hydrated. I check on them about every two weeks so they are ready to go when I am. And I put some in skinny caper jars for dipping - I have to hydrate that about once a week because it gets really thick fast.

If I have had to add a lot of water I put the big original jar on my Lortone tumbler for a while to blend it.

So do I. I think it helps. I use a mix of FosterFire, Bucket of Mud, Fusion, and something else that I’ve forgotten. Whatever the composition is, it works great for me and has for several years. I just add a little distilled water now and then, maybe 2 or 3 times a year.
