Default Noise reduction strategies- Duct muffler inside with the blower?

Have any of you guys used a muffler on your ventilation systems with the blower indoors? My blower is on the indoor side the window (Yes, it's sealed) with about 6 feet of 8" round duct between me and the blower. Damn, that thing is noisy. I'm wondering it would be worthwhile to swap out a couple feet of the ducting with a duct muffler even if the blower is inside the garage with me.

I've used these products with great success in keeping heat and road noise outside of a sports car, so if the muffler won't work, perhaps if the muffler won't help enough to justify the work, this would help somewhat:
