I posted it mainly to show the OP what people use for work areas and where and what they use for desks, but I did forewarn you all about the ventilation systems or lack thereof.

Pretty much shows what NOT to do. Mark worked very hard on that forum to try to get peeps to understand why we have to exhaust fumes and try to capture them before exhausting them. But as you can see he was fighting an uphill battle.

Yeah, that was an interesting set of pictures. It just makes me wonder. My teacher spoke of the importance of ventilation and we had a good safe set up. Where are people learning how to lampwork yet not be taught the basics, or are they ignoring it?

A few things maybe...

Others visiting a studio are afraid to comment on obvious deficiencies...

Some people with studio (even commercial teaching studios) have never been taught about the hazards.... Specially if they are "self taught"....

Some teaching studios don't bother teaching a session on safety before ever lighting up torch....

Some people can't be bothered to take the effort...

Some people think safety if a problem for others and they can't possibly be doing something dangerous or hazardous because that is the way "BobbyJoe" does it or showed them how to do it.... (sorry BobbyJoe)...

Some are afraid of criticisms from the people in the "White Bread- Paper Doll" world where everything is beautiful....

Well I prefer wheat bread and real dogs to white bread and paper dolls.
