I've had success in getting an ivory-like look with egyptian white sand and a very light silver fume over it.

I know this is obvious but have you considered soft glass or is boro a necessity?

here's some pix for you
1.
white sands and fumed, which gives the nice yellowing. It's best when there are some dips in the glass, then you can burn off a little of the haze on the ridges and get a darker effect in the "valleys".
2. and 3.
this is white sand put with a little butterscotch (caramel will do the same job), first mixed up, then twisted (keep it in a sphere when twisting) and then switched axis to get a simile of the layered patterning you see in ivory. 3. is a closer detail of this. You can of course combine the fuming and butterscotch techniques.
4. Just thought I'd throw in my Kangaroo Tooth necklace (I named it that in Thailand, but it's a bit of a long story) to have a look at, too. It's more of a bone-like texture than the ivory, but if you're looking for natural looking effects in the same vein, this is small frit of butterscotch and the lines are (if I remember correctly) a mix of blue moon and exotic red powder. I made a whole bunch of those to go travelling with early last year and got amazing feedback. The fur is actual kangaroo fur.

you can mix silver straight into clear glass to get a good ivory look. http://www.glassartists.org/Img59396..._Bead1.JPG.asp

There is also a white called jawbone that is a little like the Egyptian sand, but has a little more bone feel to it. I like the fuming idea. You might also try mixing extra light yellow, which is really just lightly silvered clear with your choice of white.
The kangaroo tooth is terrific Wickedglass.
