encasing enamel
I have been playing with enamel, mixing new colors as well as surface rolling on because I want a purple or pink more intense than effetre dk pink (wimpy) and edp is too fussy for what I am making. I have screwed up a number of expensive colors inside a floralish bead style. I wanted to apply a raised design, roll in enamel so the enamel only sticks to the raised bits and encase with clear. Anybody encase enamel routinely with success? Thanks in advance.

Hi Della, the way I encase enamel in a pure colour is to roll the end of a transparent rod in the enamel, melt the enamel in a bit. Then encase the end of the rod in more transparent. I then pull it out into a stringer. What I'm left with is the enamel in a stringer form that when I apply it won't bleed out everywhere. I can then do raised surface decoration without it spreading all over the place. Hope that helps.

Hey Pam, it's 6.13pm here in Australia. Not late at all. I wasn't sure if it would give you the effect you wanted, but this is the only way I do it, you might have to layer on the enamel quite thick and pull short fat stringers to get the effect you want though.
