Default Is it stupid to be nervous about selling for first time?

Hi Everyone.

I've just started out making jewellery from seaglass, shells and copper electroforming natural objects. I've not got any background in it and I've sort of fallen into it after realising I lived on a beach which had seaglass and other nice flotsam and jetsam which I should be doing something with. Anyway, I've wrapped the seaglass and drilled it where I can and made briolettes too and the electroforming is going well to with some niceish pieces. But my question is - is it ok to be nervous about people wearing and buying your stuff? I wake in the middle of the night thinking, gosh, what if that breaks or something happens? I'm a bit of a worrier anyway but hoped that was normal and see how other people felt and dealt with it - or maybe I'm just being silly!

I did have some issues with the epoxy I was using for adding jump rings - it kept breaking off the piece, but I've swapped now and give a decent tug on them now before making them into anything to check but maybe that's what's making me nervous - even though I don' think it's going to happen anymore.

Thanks!
Jen

Of course not! It involves your pride! But you will have another emotion when you do sell your first handmade creation. ELATION! I still remember when someone bought one of my beads. I was sooooo excited!

Thanks Patti, I think I'm just worried that someone will buy something and a jump ring will break or something will happen to the piece I've made!

Fingers crossed all will be fine!

Normal! But just remember not to take it personally if someone doesn't like your art. Different tastes and all that. ((hugs)) Best of luck to ya!

Hell no! LOL

I've been doing this for six years, and anything coming out of my studio was private, shown only to my immediate family members under pain of death.

I'm still nervous posting photos of what I've been doing. In fact today was the day. And they were in the bathroom because I don't want them on permanent exhibit just yet.

It's natural to be nervous.

Think of it kind of like a first date.

The world is not going to end if it does not go well but I would try not to expect your wildest dreams to come true the first time you set up a table.

I just put my first pieve of glass sculpture up for auction in a Facebook group. And now I have 24 hours to be very nervous.
So my answer would be no.
