Question Natural gas for Torch ?

I'm moving soon, and our new house has a primo spot for studio. 2 windows on opposite walls! A slop sink, and a gas line run right into the room with a shut off valve!

Can you point me in the right direction for setting that gas line up for my torch?

I'll hire someone to do the actual installation, but where do I find specs for this sort of thing?

I have a bobcat. I also have an oxycon, but sometimes use tanked oxy. Not sure if that part matters.

I assume I need a different sort of regulator.

A bobcat can run on NG at .25 PSI. Standard home pressures can vary by region, but most likely is around 7 WC or .3 PSI. Depending on NG line run 1/2 inch black pipe will be adequate. Your NG installed can give you exact data. The torch will run at about 65% with one 5 LPM concentrator.

Have used a Cricket and now a Scorpion on NG and both worked fine. Fuel is limited at 7 WC however the torch will still work well. No experience with the Bobcat.

The NG installer should be able to give you specifications and a cost for installation.

Enjoy NG as it is the cleaner running fuel.....

My bobcat works just fine on NG, you don't need a regulator as the pressure is so low. All you need is a shut off valve with the right size fitting for your hose. I love using NG especially with silver glass!

I've used a NG booster with all of my torches: minor, cricket, mini cc, another one I can't remember and my Phantom.
I am moving out to a new studion and not going to be using the booster. It will be for sale in the next few weeks
It's in good shape and well cared for but may cost an arm and a leg to ship
You will have to "play" with some of the normal reactions to figure out how to get them with NG but they are possible

If you would, could you share experience with NG flame settings as quoted above?

Yes, the booster is a nice machine. Use the 60 cf/h one on this end with the Scorpion. Like the idea of a regulated NG pressure from 1 to 25 PSI with sufficient capacity to run most torches.

I use household natural gas, no booster, no regulator, on my cricket. Works like a charm.

I run a Mini CC on household NG and an Oxy/Con. I had the hook up professional installed along with ventilation. I think between Carlisle, (the manufacturer) and the installer, they figured out what needed to be done.
