CIM Mojito
I used CIM Mojito in a bead, the core was about two wraps of the Mojito and then it was deeply encased with Uroboros 104 clear. The bead was about 80% clear. The next day all three beads I made this way were full of cracks that look like incompatibility to me. I know I can encase Mojito, I have done it with Effetre clear. But I didn't expect this issue. Has anyone else encountered this? Jeri

I would doubt it's the mojito, I'm addicted to that glass. I've heard of the Uroboros cracking on fb a lot, seems people here like it ?

I've had epic compatibility cracks with the most recent batch of Uroboros 104. Bummer because I loved the first batch so much.
The only way I trust encasing with it now is when I use it as both the base and as the encasement layers.

I cracked some with a lauscha lt. teal transparent over urobos 104 core last night as well. only thing in the batch that did so I'm certain it was a compatibility issue. its done a great job in other cases so guess certain combos are just bad news. Double helix had a very nice paper showing the broad range of glass relative to effetre . My guess is that the urobos is at one end of the spectrum rather than the middle and doesn't play well with things on the other side.

This is my first issue with uroboros so I assumed it was the mojito. I guess that sounds like a rush to judgment now! I guess I should go with effetre on this bead. Jeri

I've also had cracking issues with Uroboros encasing.

I had fire lotus crack with uroborus 104, the strange thing was they looked fine fresh out of the kiln and a few hours later I noticed cracks! Three out of 4 beads cracked.

It's sad. Uroboros put a year at least into quality control and the first batch was awesome. Something went awry with the second run. And now I don't trust the glass and doubt I will buy it again.

Here are the latest casualties -- before I gave up on using it any other way than as both base and encasement with only a thin layer of anything else in between.
Both of these had Messy Tuxedo as a base.

I've had cracking issues with with the Uroboros 104 clear too...definitely compatibility issues. I don't use it anymore.

That's a shame, I had Uroboros on my list to try.

I have only had issues when I encase the CIM monitor. I like it enough to continue to use it cautiously, jeri

Uboros
Hi Jeri,
I was very excited about the Uborous 104 announcement after taking your class at the Gathering, and ordered 3 pounds. The beads that I learned to grind in your class are heavily encased. I had been making successful beads with Super Clear but when I started to use U104' they all cracked. I too found that the only way to use this glass with heavy encasing was to create the core with U104, do my detailes and then finish with the U104. I absolutely love this glass for its ease of melting and encasing, but always wonder if I am going to be bitterly disappointed in the days after removing from the kiln.
Maybe they will revise the formula and let all of us know?
Made a bead today to flat lap tomorrow. It is so fun to see what I can discover coming from my design.

Desta, I would love to see what you are working on! I hate this issue with clears, I have been spoiled by too many uneventful years courtesy of Moretti. Did you have cracking with all colors or only some? Jeri
