Default Opalino Yellow? Mine turned kind of dark & kind of browned a bit

I wanted a very soft & light yellow, and the yellow opalino looked perfect until I melted it.
I put it over a white base bead, would that have changed the color? Is there a way to work it & keep the pale soft color?
Or is there another light soft yellow opaque that you know of that is readily available?

This color.

CIM Ghee is that color, as long as you can keep it from turning brown (keep it cool and work fairly quickly usually does it).

Pale opal yellow used to be available but I have no idea if it still is. It's pretty.

Hmmm, I think I might have a half rod of that at least. I can't remember for sure, and I don't remember anything about it. I'll look.
I'll also try the same process with the opalino, maybe it will stay yellow instead of going caramel.

Rebecca, is that Effetre? Do you have any idea of the number?

I did get to thinking a bit ago that maybe I could try mixing one of my other yellows with some white to soften it.

You have to work super cool with it. Even on a hh it can get too hot... I love the colors, but they are temperamental. I have seen some cheep glass have that soft translucent color. Kinary glass or something... Not 104 I'm pretty sure. It was softer, but like 5$ a lb. pretty like the one you are using, and no burning.

Last week I ordered Effetre Yellow Lemon Light from Fratz. If you have a rod of that laying around, it would be perfect for that cute picture (It brightens up after melting, compared to rod form)

I'll second the yellow lemon light! It is a very pale yellow.

I think it was 266-P but I was looking around and I don't see that it's available anymore.

I just got a big order from Frantz a few days ago, but never thought to check my yellows when I was taking advantage of his Vetrofond sale.

Rebecca, thanks for the info.

Regular Opal Yellow (not Opalino Yellow) would be a good choice.

Eileen, you cooked the snot out of the opalino, so to speak. You have to work it very slow and cool. OTOH, you can get a really nice Tootsie roll brown if you keep cooking it long enough. Looks good enough to eat!

Thank you ESC. I tried a few of the other yellows I have today, but will try again with the YO with that in mind.

Thank you. I did find another yellow in my stash that I can use, but I also want to learn to tame the opalino colors. I bought some, but have been afraid to use them, but now I want to try.

Eileen, one of the things I learned to do with them was to encase them with transparent and pull a fat stringer to decorate with. You get a really dreamy, semi-translucent look that works great for flowers, flower buds, background foliage, etc.

What a great idea! My opalinos have been gathering dust for years because I never have any luck with them.
