you're looking at the 65mm herbie, which is a massive torch and has 9 rings of jets. The comparable herbies (50mm) are around $2800 and have 7 rings of jets. As you can probably imagine, they will give you a whole range of adjustments compared to the inner flame and 2 rings that a Kobuki will give you ... Even the 40mm herbie will give you more options and when you have your flame set, all you have to do is adjust one dial to get a larger (or smaller) flame as opposed to having 9 knobs to fiddle with or a 3 stage pedal to negotiate... Jet wise, counting from the outer ring of the 50mm it's 48, 48, 30, 30, 24, 12, 7 = 199 jets.

or I could be wrong, maybe the Kobuki is comparable to the 40mm herbie ... I have no idea how wide across the face the Kobuki is ... in that case, the 40mm herbies are even cheaper at around $2600

You are probably right Chris, my problem is the oxy, on the Island can't afford to use bottled oxy at $ 150 a bottle, so could you happily run the Zenit on concentrators? I have no trouble running my Phantom and I have had a Mirage running very happily on 2 concentrators My studio has 3 concentrators, of 10lpm 20psi capacity.

KILLER Mantis Castaway... I want one but until I get a private jet it's a long walk

Chris- My question on Herbies is simple: Do they have the heat push / penetration of equivalent GTT torches? If not then it's apples to oranges for my purposes.

I think you might have problems running a Kobuki on concentrators, too, even if you have three concs, but I could be wrong, they may output enough pressure. I have homefill systems, 2 concentrators and two pumps manifolded to one bottle. That way I still get pressure and bypass the gas company. I do still pay hire on the bottles, but that's minimal in comparison to the $65 per bottle I would otherwise pay. I swap the bottles over for full ones ever few months and that ensures I've always got up to date, tested bottles on site.
As for the Herbies, it's not such a funny and laughable question in regards to running one off oxy cons. They can be adjusted, via an array of grub screws, to run on a wide range of pressures and perhaps the 40mm may be suitable for doing this. I think the best thing to do would be to contact HA directly and ask them what the actual minimal pressure/flow rate that they can be adjusted to is. An other person you could contact directly is Jason Howard, he knows how to adjust them and is a big fan of the herbies.
Alternatively you may want to look into a similar arrangement with the homefills (with the $ you would save on a herbie, haha) that I'm running and if you have any issues at all with it down the road as components wear, you can contact me, I know those pumps backwards.

Marcel, absolutely love color and splinter of the dichro in the background of the eye.

Is that a bear paw print where the incense is burned ... neat touch. I'm dreaming of some white sage now!!

Off to set up at this weekend's show. Have a good one all.

Yeah I really want to learn how to do those myself. I mean, I get the general idea but the results have been not so good. IN fact, fume has been frustrating in me in general lately, I've put it on a time-out until it can behave.
