We returned Friday and on Saturday I was ok, but on Sunday I felt like a zombie from Jet lag.
It was a short trip, but a very fun trip and I spent many days exploring glass magazines at Effetre.
I brought back samples of many colors to test and then decide if I want those colors or not.
I found some very cool rods and there was two piles, maybe 1,000 to 2,000 pounds of small quantities of some of the COOL COLORS from many years ago, plus some colors that I can not remember ever seeing.
While I was at Effetre they were producing Super Clear 591006 out of a new crucible and the quality was great, so I ordered 2,200 pounds in 5-6mm.
Every time I am at Effetre I always look into two magazines where they put the ends of the pulls of millefiori, but never thought that it had much use as beadmaking rods. Then last year I took a few millefiori cane that might have two or three colors inside the design and used it for making a bead and I ended up with some delicious beads.
This trip I got into the magazine and started selecting millefiori cane. My goal was around 2,000 pounds, but the work was hard and by the time it was time to start getting packed to go home I had only reached 3 or 4 hundred pounds. I selected many cane that had 591254 and we were able to use a torch at Effetre and the results were great.
This is just a little of what I found, all of it will probably leave Effetre around the middle of June and arrive around the end of August or early September.
Once the jet lag wears off, I will tell you more about my trip and all the great artists I got to visit with and enjoy great meals with.
This was my first trip i over 4 years to Murano, and it was a blast and I hope to go back again soon.
