I bought the very last two quarter pounds just shortly after 8 a.m. this morning, from the 2/14 batch. The other one was sold out already. Honestly, I was surprised that I was able to get the last of it. I am always, ALWAYS, too late to the party.

I hadn't seen Kim's last post in this thread, but I happened to be on the DH website and bought a pound of the fast striking Terra in the hope that it might be like the original. As luck or lack thereof would have it, I bought the 2/14 stuff, but I'm waiting patiently anyway. I'll be so thrilled if it will give me the colors from the original. Now all I need is the tutorial!

Hi Kim,
When clicking on the preorder link I don't see where you can preorder and what the price is. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks.

Jill: You're probably looking at the old version of the page from your web browser's cache. Refresh your browser page and the preorder page should come up.

Default Normal vs. Fast Handpulled Terra

Check your rod label. All the "Fast Striking" handpulled Terra is labeled as such on the rod label, and was sold under a seperate listing, also labeled "Fast Striking" on the website. We maintain records of each of our customers' specific batch dates, so if you have further questions, feel free to email and we'll get your questions answered in short order.

Thanks,
Jed at DHG

Played with the Fast Striking, and I've gotten some results that I like, but still ordered the tutorial because I'm sure there are secrets I'm missing. March is such a long month!

Boy, it sure doesn't feel like a long month on this end. Tons left to do and waaaay too little time left before deadline.

Hey, no pressure, Kim. I'll just be sitting here...waiting...watching the grass grow...and checking my inbox.

So I got my pyrometer and it's reading about 140 degrees above what my kiln says. So what I thought was 925 was actually 1065. I made some adjustments this afternoon.

Amazing it can be that inaccurate, isn't it? That's why the first thing I recommend for anyone who's having trouble with glass overstriking in the kiln is to check the accuracy of their controller. The first time I tested my kiln for accuracy, mine was way off, too. The actual kiln temp was somewhere between 150 and 200 degrees over what the controller was showing. Adjusting for the inaccuracy made a huge difference for me with some of the more heat-sensitive striking glasses, including Terra. Bet you'll see some nice changes too, Ellen!

You will be amazed at how much of a difference it makes in a lot of your beads - not just striking glass. Also, they won't be sticky any more

Oh Kim.. oh no.. *must* resist!
Then again.. if it wasn't for your earlier tutes, I would still be completely clueless about sliver glass!
