Default Frequently Moving Equipment

I live in an apartment, so I have to go to a local studio to make beads. I just got a Bethlehem Bravo which I am quite excited to use, and I wanted to see how people travel with their equipment. I go in about once a week for a few hours, and I want to protect my torch well enough to feel secure driving to the studio and back. Any advice would be much appreciated.

When I do public demos at the gallery, graphite tools and torch get wrapped in old cotton bandanas and then bubble wrap. Glass rods get taped together with painter's tape (doesn't leave a residue) and slid into a packing tube or two. Other tools get placed into an old kitchen towel and rolled up and tied or taped in place. All that gets placed into a plastic tote from the hardware store. Does all this help you at all?

I have a Pelican case for my torch, hardly use it these days () but I've taken my torch all over the USA in it for demos and teaching. When I first got my torch, I worked in a public-access studio similar to what you describe - it was key then.

Do you happen to have a picture of your case? Did you use the stock foam or get something made? This is the direction I am leaning, and I would love some more information.

They have decent canvas type cloth tool bags these days for not a ton of money.

I keep a few with tools for dragging into the house for home repairs and another just for working on the car.

There is a lot to be said for canvas rolls for wrenches and such as well.

How is the torch supported to keep it protected? It's a heavy and complex 3D shape, so it seems difficult to get the torch properly supported.

Pelicans come with very heavy foam that you customize to the object. The foam is in squares that can be removed to fit.

I'm only on a Fireworks with MAPP bottles, but my entire "studio" (not including my Hotbox kiln) is in a large rolling double stacked toolbox!

For anyone later viewing this thread, I ended up making myself a tray to carry everything around. It's a little awkward due to the length needed to fit the glass, but it works very well for what I need it to do.
Oh, and it's made of foamcore poster board, so don't worry if you can't get to a woodshop to make it!
