Sounds interesting, just make sure the fume is on the outside, encased or both. As for how the fume will look, the best way to find out is experimentation.
I'd be worried that the amber liquors generally aren't dark enough to make the fume really pop. Maybe if you did a darker-colored blow-in or even sleeve work. Because that would rock.
