Etch "chart" question
If you etch glass that has not been lampworked or annealed, will you get a similar look to a finished bead?
My thought was to nip a 1" piece of each color, and etch 1/2 of it, then put them in numerical order on a piece of foam board or something similar to have a readily available "chart" but I'm not sure if it would show correctly.
I do know, of course, that it wouldn't work for glass that changes in the flame colorwise. Maybe for those I could melt some, and pull a short fat piece to use.
PS. I would normally tumble, but can't figure out a way to tumble only 1/2 of a piece of glass.

Until I get my own done it will have to be me traipsing back & forth, house (computer) to craft shack, but they're about 80-100 feet apart so it gets old when the weather is too hot/cold/etc. so I do want to make my own for use out there at some point.

Some glass seems to be matte in rod form and shiny after working--so you'd have to work it before etching.

If you want to tumble just mask 1/2 the rod piece with electrical tape or something. Great idea.
