Default Ideas for making swinging arm rest and mandrel spinner

JUST AS I WAS GETTING MY LIFE BACK TOGETHER AFTER A BAD SEPERATION AND LIFE'S TRAUMA'S, I was hit by a car on my bicycle. I'm still in the hospital 2 weeks later, and among many injuries I have a broken arm and wrist on my left side. (I am so lucky it's not my right side.)
2 of the things I am going to need are swinging arm rest and an electric mandrel spinner. Would love some idea's on cheap ways to make these as it will be months before I can return to work.
Any donations gladly accepted.

As everything else, this will pass. Since I all ready lost everything besides my studio, dog and clothes on my back a few years ago, I know how to survive, Perhaps this now seeming tragic event is just another life lesson.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. What a depressing turn of events. Sounds like you have a great attitude. Finding a way to stay busy sounds like a good start. Best wishes.

Maybe one of these articulated arm rests could be prescribed for you? http://www.ergodirectusa.com/ErgoRes...p/ergorest.htm
I hope you heal quickly! Jeri

For an inexpensive alternative to the creation station I made my own arm rests that extend out from the work table. I cut two pieces of wood from a leftover shelf. The pieces are about 8 x 5 inches. Then I drilled a hole about one inch from the top and in the center of each piece. My workstation is a large piece of Formica on top of a another table. After determining the proper placement for the armrests, I drilled holes into the Formica. I drilled the hole so I could countersink the screw as I didn't want there to be any wobbling from the screw head. I attached the armrests from the underside of the Formica with a large screw, washers, and wing nuts. Is this all clear as mud? I won't be back in Florida for another month so I can't take a photo.

has a "tutorial" for making your own mandrel spinner. I'm not sure if anyone ever got it to work, though.

I want to try a flex shaft on my dremel tool, possibly with a foot controller.
