Default Glass Term Abbreviations List?

Hi,
I've done a couple of searches, but haven't found a list of what all the initials and nicknames used in the forum mean.

I did figure out that:

RAKU = one of the oranges, correct?
SIS = silvered ivory stringer
SRA = self representing artist

but for instance this one has me scratching my head ~

EDP = ? A type of glass, but what is the real name?

I'm sure there are many others that I'm forgetting. Is anyone else wondering? Would anyone like to list some of the common nicknames for favored colors or processes, etc.? Or maybe it's just me, in which case I will eventually catch on, LOL

Another you will see is DSP. It's Dark Silver Plum

Also SC = StrikingColor a special COE 104 silvered glass made by Brad Shute (glassmaker on LE).

NS = Northstar
GA = Glass Alchemy

There are probably many more but that is the extra ones that come to mind.

Don't be shy ... just ask if you see one and don't know what it is.

RO Rubino Oro
OY Opal Yellow
IB Intense Black
CIM Creation Is Messy (glass co.)
and I believe the DH came from Corina Tettinger in PTF (Passing The Flame)!

Thanks everyone!

DH depends on the day & the mood when applied to husbands I think, and I'm sure DW would go the same way LOL

I've subscribed to this thread, because I've already seen some I don't know, and actually will have to become familiar with the glass to really "know". The thing is I'm sure even some that I just read I'll have forgotten by tomorrow, and it will take time to cement them in my brain!

It is always Dear Husband for me. I would never disrespect my husband by using the other term.

I never use "dumb" but I have thought "doggone" when I've been exasperated at something he's done or not done before. And I'm sure he's thought the same of me when I've done something to upset him, but normally yep, it's Dear!

I think ISO is usually "in search of" but not sure if it's something else glass related?

Eileen I want to apologize, my post was kinda, well kinda putting others down for using an abbreviation differently than me. I guess I am just "old school", well, just old..LOL

I shouldn't voice an opinion like that, that was off topic and not asked for.

Again my apologies. This is part of my new years resolution, to fix anything I say unkindly. Stay on topic and be kind. Didn't think it would happen so soon...drats!

SOB - seriously overworked bead (one you keep trying to save by adding more crap when you should have just chucked it in the water bucket when it first went awry)

I've always liked that one...

MOP isn't a kind of glass - I was unclear. Its a general term to describe those translucent glasses

I would see "MOP finish" and wonder what the heck that meant.

Lorraine, no need to apologize, I'm admiring that you can always think of him as "Dear". After 40 years of marriage (coming up quickly on that anniversary) I am just glad that it's usually Dear for me, LOL, but will admit to a few "doggone" instances

Chuckie, I'm liking that SOB bead too, and I'm sure I'll have my share of them.

RoseMarie, thanks for the clarification, I did search the gallery & couldn't find any with MOP glass, but now I get it.

Ask me about DH in 2031 when we would hit our 40 year mark...LOL 40 years is a long time and congratulations on staying together. That in itself is a fantastic accomplishment.

We are still newlyweds and we found each other late in life so I think we are just extremely grateful.

Punty explains why I kept getting confused, thinking I was getting things mixed up because sometimes I thought it was a glass rod, and other times a metal rod, LOL! No I know it's what it is used for, not the material, thanks!

Sometimes I see * Word* What does that mean. I think it is some kind of agreement of previous statement?

I know what it means as I have two teenagers in my home, but it was easier for me to explain it to you by quoting urban dictionary minus what you didn't want to hear.

"Word" has no single meaning, but is used to convey a casual sense of affirmation, acknowledgment, agreement, or to indicate that something has impressed you favorably.

It basically means "truth." Or "to speak the truth."

To concur
"well said"
"I agree."

Glad I could clear this up for you Eileen.

Yes, sometimes we do use punties as glass and other times we use metal ones. As I stated above, I remember when I first started being confused by this also, so I try and remember not everyone knows which one someone is speaking of.

Most of the time in boro we are speaking of a glass rod as a punty. In soft glass it could be either, so don't be worried about asking either way.
