Default Bethlehem Alpha

Has anyone had any experience of using the Alpha with Boro?

Based on this one thread it appears that the Alpha is NOT oxy efficient and it sounds like a mistake to expect to work boro with it and just one concentrator. No surprise there.

From Bethlehem,
http://www.bethlehemburners.com/torches/alpha

It appears that the Alpha is the center fire of the Bravo, if this is the case it has plenty of power to work 10mm boro. You may need more than one oxy con, I use tanked so I get as much oxy as I need until the tank is empty.

I run the Bravo on 3 M-15s with 3, 11 gallon, holding tanks.

The Alpha centerfire tops out at about 12 LPM @ 15 PSI and
any higher goes turbulent.

I don't know which concentrator you have but one M-10 or M-15
will run the Alpha pretty nicely and will do small boro just fine.

If you want to make 2" marbles the Alpha is not the right torch...

But if you want to do small boro it will work great, it has the ability
to go down to a tiny pinpoint flame allowing you to do detail work
with greater ease.

If you are coming off a Hothead any Oxy/Propane torch is going to
be a HUGE change that you will need to get used to.
