after reading so much about cameras, im still a bit confused

What are you taking pictures of? If it's beads and stuff (things that are within a few feet of the camera) you should have no problem whatsoever zooming in.

But, if you are getting a new camera, go for the one with the higher optical zoom. Most any camera these days will take pictures at a much higher resolution than you need for most stuff, so that is rarely an issue any more.

Higher optical zoom is paramount.
If your pictures are primarily for website viewing pixel size isn't an issue.

If you buy a new camera get one with the highest optical zoom possible in your budget. Digital zoom is worthless.

Excellent choice!
You should be able to get a great deal on that model.

Default For extreme close-up you should use MACRO setting

More optical zoom does not mean you can get closer focus. Most optical zoom features do not focus closer then about 12". That is why most digital cameras have a MACRO mode. It usually indicated on the camera as a small flower symbol. Macro will allow you to focus down to an inch or less. You might not need a new camera at all. HTH
