The last set probably needs some explanation, instead of using room air, and dealing with the heating/cooling issues of using said room air, we are ducting in fresh outside air through the underside of the benchwork, and ducting up into each booth from underneath.

We are using standard sized floor ducts to act as a spreader, and the incoming air then acts as a "curtain" and is drawn straight up and out.

We are using a 2400 CFM downblast roof mounted exhaust fan, the total static pressure for the entire system is 2.3", and the final CFM through the system is around 1900 CFM.

A few things have changed since these pictures were taken, we now have the plastic propane tank box sitting up on the stoop beside the door and behind the steel post. This was done at the suggestion of the fire inspector to provide protection from automobiles in the parking lot. We've also replaced the rubber hose running from the shut off going into the building with flexible metal pipe. There are also some new signs that have been added in accordance with NFPA regulations.

Remember that this is a commercial studio, and we were required to be inspected by the building inspector as well as the fire inspector. The studio meets (or exceeds) all existing codes for the State of Minnesota and the U.S.

(And just for Dale, there are 1 lb fire extinguishers (5 of them) directly behind each workstation at knee height, and 3 - 20 pound extinguishers at each doorway.)

The building itself was built around 1900 as a creamery and over the past 20 years has served as a dairy bar, a bakery, and the last tennant sold paint ball equipment (we are still finding paint ball residue in weird places).
