Default Momka frit experiments

I thought I'd start a thread where fellow Momka frit addicts can share info. I have a few colors I have played with recently. Some were pleasant surprises, some need to be revisited with new base colors. Please feel free to post any pics and/or recipes you have. I'll add more pics/recipes whenever I have new stuff. All of these have one base color, one Momka frit color, large clear frit, and are encased with Simax clear.

Oh MAN! I love the citrus and cherry! I have some clear frit and the northstar sampler on the way, I can't wait. That Momka frit looks 'licious!

thank you! I def want to go back and try different base colors. My photography is terrible, but the blue flambe was creating some cool effects. Want to go back and experiment more with that one for sure, and the citrus was cooler than I expected. I wish I had gone lighter on the cherry - less would have been better.

Thanks Susan. At least the 103.6 fever is at bay. Gonna go torch even though I'm still hurting and beat but hey ... we sit behind the torch ... right. Got another bonus day off work ... we are slow so got a volunatry layoff day.

Here is the photo I promised ... sorry for poor quality ... it is rainy and overcast again ... not the best photo op lighting conditions.

At 11 am is Silver Flambe on clear
1 pm is Purple Thunder on black
3 pm is caramel base with almond nugget and brown glitter frits
6 pm is Silver Flambe on black
7 pm is Cloud frit on black
9 is is Sparkly Thunder on black
Center is Sparkly Thunder on clear

The Sparkly Thunder on Clear is MUCH more colorful that what is shown in this pix!!

Default One more

and not a bead this time ... but I've been after the "ultimate" pink for florals.

I found my dream with Momka frit. This is TAG pink cadillac rolled in Momka American Beauty frit and then pulled down to a stringer for the implosion. I love the color it turned out.

That's it for me for now.

anyone else have anything yet? I'm hoping to get out in the studio tomorrow. Final day of school is Wednesday, then I should have an open schedule for torching. Woo hoooooooo! I just have to pretend it isn't 105 degrees and my studio is in the garage... Maybe a bowl of ice water to dip my feet in?

Totally off topic, but I actually do that! I have an old styrofoam cooler that I fill with water and ice and I dip my toes (eventually feet, as the water warms up) as I work. Amazingly enough, it really seems to help with making the high temps bearable.

Beautiful beads everyone! I love Momka glass and frit and have mixed some blends with it (shameless self promo; I sell them in my Hot Flash Frit shop on Etsy). I use Momka, NS and GA in the blends (thanks to Cathy at eplanet for offering Momka frit!).

These are my two favorite blends, Invictus and Celtic Spring:

Thanks Susan and Laura! Laura, I haven't been torching much in the past 6 months or so and I let both my Etsy shops slide. Back at it now and hoping to get some new blends listed as soon as I have some torch and photo time (training for my first full marathon - yikes! - and it's taking all my play time!).

I got a bit of torch time last night and mixed a new blend. "Hippie Chick" has Momka Purple Thunder in it, along with some Northstar colors. The first pic is Hippie Chick over a base of Amber Purple. The second pic is Hippie Chick rolled over a rod of GA Amazon Bronze, melted in and pulled down, then wound on the mandrel. Both sets of beads were encased in Simax clear.
I really like how the purple and blue colors turned out on the 2nd set of beads. I'd heard that Amazon Bronze could produce deep purples but I'd never experienced it before. Happy surprise!

Have enjoyed looking at all the beads but have to say I got the BEST giggle (in the nicest way) out of the time ref for showing your beads ..am/pm have no bearing on the use of clock ref for direction to look it is just where the clock hands are so pilots can know where to look out the window for traffic....just sayin...carry on
