Name that color!
I'm trying to identify a "Random rod" that I used in a recent Frit.
It is White.
The Rod itself has a slight Pearly appearance and once heated and turned into Frit, it takes on a lovely Milky Blue!
I can narrow down that it's not CIM Cirrus, as the rod was Opaque.
Any ideas?

I would have to say that a picture would be a big help. The instant frit effect is usually trapped area from the manufacturing process. It sounds a bit like white I got from CIM that was a one-off batch. I don;t remember the color name.

Could it be a Lauscha Milky Way rod? We call it white opal. It does do that.

The problem with posting a pic is that I can't get them onto my computer to add a decent one...try this link to my Facebook post of the overall Frit.
The Color in question is the one in the Left Frit that shows in the pic as almost a Periwinkle.
Paula,
It should be Effetre, Vetrofond, or CIM. I've never used any Lausha...yet.
Could it be CIM Marshmallow? Or maybe Vetrofond Cream?

I think the only way you are going to be able to figure this out is to do some testing. It's hard to guess a colour from the rod but nearly impossible from blended frit pics. I think Marshmallow is a good guess and a good place to start your investigation.

Could be marshmallow. Or maybe, there is/was? an vetrofond odd called 'cool white' that looks like it wants to be a moonstone when in the flame like Cirrus, rods are sort of moonstone looking when held up... but it's just white.

My camera won't capture enough of the subtle aspect of the rod.
It's a white rod, only if you look carefully in the light, you see it has a pearly appearance.

Thanks!
I'll know for sure next week. I just placed a glass order where I'm getting Marshmallow and Cream, where either way, they're good colors that I'm out of so...
I'll let folks know if it really is CIM Marshmallow, but it sounds like dicrodi helped confirm the looks of it.

Well...
I received my glass order and got to see what my frit did on a bead...and it just went back to plain white.
AND I have found that this mystery white rod is NEITHER Marshmallow nor Cream.
So, I'm chaulking this up to being a special frit.

I bet it's a CiM. They have so many variations, it could be one of the odd lots. I've noticed that their Mushroom (I think it's Mushroom) does that "opaque color on the outside, pearly when melted" thing.

Although I don't know what brand, it has been identified as a Lavender.
Comparing the rod to a regular White, it is distinctly more purple.
Apparently, the process of creating the rods, makes the pearly outward appearance but, once used it is annealed, it looks more white.

Maybe it's Effetre 221 then.
