OMG! Just got my silver cinnamon, caramel apple and violet nights. I also got CIM Cirrus and Leaky Pen. Boy did I have fun last night. I'll post some pics as soon as I get my photo setup going. I love these colors. They are so rich and silver cinnamon reacts.

Maybe there has to be more heat in the flame? Or the killn has a problem? Or the power of the gas is not strong enoug? Or the bead was too cold when laying it into the kiln? Or the different parts of the bead did not have the same temperature? There is so much about beadmaking, not only the right glass. We had no problems with encasing it and the class I was taking part were successful with encasing it.

Sounds more like it is just the glass that is the problem.

I've got to say I've never had any trouble with any of my other encased beads. I've even encased 96 COE frit and I've not had the cracking problem I've had with Silver Cinnamon. Maybe you were lucky and got a good, compatable batch, glass-diary. Yep, squid! I think there are more people having problems with encasing it. I've only read of a couple people who have made it work.

Jelveh, your beads are just beautiful
Could you please let me know, what base color you used for the beads in pic 2?
And one other question: I made a bead with a bae of Moretti light Ivory and decorated it with thick Stringerwork and dots aof silver cinnamon. I left the decoration half raised and put the bead directly into the kiln. Some days later some dots and parts of the stringer broke of. Oddly the Cinnamon didn't come off the ivory but broke in itself, meaning that part of the cinnamon stayed with the bead. I never had this with other color combinations. Do you (or someone else) have a guess what I could do to prevent such issues for the future?
Greetings from Germany

I've made just one bead with the silver cinnamon so far, I probably over cooked it and then pressed it - but what I got was a yellowish pitted color. Any idea what I' doing wrong? Should I be using less heat with this color?

Pretty Tina!
I just finished some on ivory with SIS and red, I hope I get the same rich colors you got. I didn't use a bunch of silver, just a tad to add a sparkly.
If they turn out ok I will post pics when they come out of the kiln.

I love the way that silver cinnamon reacts differently to different flame and companion glass. Her are two of my favorites:
This is SC and raku.
This is SC and CIM Hades, which swirled together can cause a beautiful blue after it is reduced.
Have fun!

I love silver cinnamon! But I do prefer the ASK honestly, the Kugler stuff doesn't give me the same results...
This one has a base of SC (yes, the purple is SC as well):
Left one is SC, middle one SC with psyche frit:

Wow, I need to start using mine. I've been trying to stretch it out by using just stringers. Anouk, those are just gorgeous!

It's one of my favorites, and I was so depressed when I discovered it was no longer being made. Then I heard that it was being manufactured, but under a different name (since ASK is no more). When I found some, I bought out what the vendor had in stock.
There's only one problem....where the heck did I put all my rods?!?

I thought ASK glass was no more...
Wasnt ASK originally an Arrow Springs/ Kugler joint venture? Arrow Springs is no longer involved so it is sold as Kugler now. I've heard that the glass isn't quite the same, even though it is put out by the same company. Although I have not tried it as Kugler glass yet. Anyone care to chime in?

For the 1 rod that I did play with (before I put the rest of my stash in a safe place that I can't find), it (Kugler) seemed to work the same as the ASK version. Or at least, for what I tried (reducing to a pretty pink-ish sheen, green-gray outlines when using intense black) it reacted the same.

I have some of both (ASK and Kugler SC). I can't tell them apart. But I think it varies batch to batch.
Wow this was an old buried thread.
