Hole in Soft Glass
When I make marbles out of soft glass, occasional there is a hole in the side of them. What causes this? I try to melt it in, but that doesn't work. I'm guessing that it is caused by something in the glass. Or is it a bubble that blew out the side. Sometimes it is on the design, so trying to pick it out would mess up the marble. But, I'll end up making frit out of it anyway.

I think it is a bubble that blew out. I'm not positive but I've seen it on some I've made as it happened and had to really work to get them to melt back together.
Pretty marble!!!

If you want to melt the hole in, put your flame AROUND the hole, rather than focusing ON the hole. You need to heat the glass all around the sides of the hole to get that glass hot enough to flow into the area of the hole and fill the area in with glass.

Dotting it risks trapping air in there a second time and having it just blow out again, been there
Heating around it's generally the best way.

I've found that out! I never thought to do it the right way.
