All things considered I probably don't have to worry about experiencing hot flashes Thank god for that!

You WILL experience them... it probably won't be you having the hot flash... but trust me man... when Kara goes through the change, YOU will have an experience! My Mom was a real fun person to be around... NOT!

Aw Brent...it's not that bad (hot flash/menop) for ALL of us gals. I keep telling my husband that I had another short trip to Honolulu when one hits now. Actually he actually likes it since I was formally the one "cold" and the heater was too hot in winter for his comfort. lol

If you take a small clip fan and put it by your torch and point it toward your chest it will cool you down considerably it really works great.

Default hot 'n sweaty in Australia

I don't get sweaty torching, because the studio is cooled, but when gardening in summer meltdown is a continuing problem. I have made myself ( and several friends) sweatbands out of cotton tubes filled with small amounts of water absorbing crystals like you put in your potplants. Soak them in water until they swell up, and keep them in the fridge for instant relief on killer days. BLISS . Ask if you need further information.

I love all the ideas in this thread! Thanks for sharing your inventive solutions! I think you can buy a neck wraps with the water crystals already inside them for a very reasonable price. Might be just the thing in summertime to cool off. Luckily, during the winter it rarely goes above about 80 degrees (F) here, so it's not so bad. All I have to worry about is sweaty eyes.

One thing, KMD... Potplants probably means something different to me than it does to you...

Absolutely. I made a bunch for summer Open Torch sessions. Easy to make (if you have a sewing machine and even minimal skills with it) and they take hardly any of the crystals, so you can make a bazillion from one jar of the crystals. Lots of instructions on the Internet, because there was a big project to send them to troops over in Iraq. They do drip, so I wouldn't recommend tying one around your head. Get (or make) a couple, so when one loses its cool you can put on a fresh one.

Hmmm, Bunyip. Cute potplants in your link. Are they ferns, perhaps, herbs, maybe? I don't have anything that looks like that in my garden!
