Thanks Cynthia. The Cowardly Lion started out as a leopard. It's got leopard spots that are not very visible in the front, under the mane.

When I am nervous about doing something I'm unsure of, I jump in without too much thought so I don't give up before I even start. I didn't think about what texture would go around the leopard face; leopards are so smooth. So I added the lion's mane, which pretty much covered up all the work I'd done to create the spots. If I did a lion again, I would first pull lots of encased stringer and do a finer textured mane with the stringer rather than the way I did the one above. Not sure yet how to do the leopard. I took an art-doll class a few years ago and have a leopard in mind for a design. Maybe it will be a leopard with a hat or a tiara

I'm learning a lot about shaping glass. I highly recommend this tutorial.

She was looking pretty good until she cracked in the back and I had to get her pretty hot to heal her. Very rosy cheeks, looks like she has a fever or got really carried away with blush. This was a lot of fun and I will definitely try again. Love the tutorial, thanks so much.

Well, I got the tut and read it over and now I'm looking at all the great "keepers" everybody is making and startin' to feel a bit intimidated! I have the kiln on, so we'll see what happens today

Here are my first two tries:

This is a great tutorial, thanks Cynthia! I'd still pay to take a Keeper class.

Thanks for the compliments on my "Cowardly Lion"

This is a wonderful tutorial. I've made a few more beads based on it. I really recommend it as a way to expand your techniques if you haven't done anything like it before.

I would like to add that I love coming to this thread since I found it yesterday and adoring everyone's keepers.

How can anyone resist getting this tutorial and making one of these?

Default laugh for the day!

Everyone else's are so perfect and their heat control is amazing to me. I'm going to show mine anyways. My first two or three of anything is usually BAD so what did I expect? BUT I sure had fun making these. I love making things that make me laugh as I torch!

I have a clown with extra eyebrows and a keeper with a fat lip.

Here goes:

Carol, those look great. The first one really looks like a clown face. You did great on the eye brows and the liner around the eyes too. That part is not easy.

Good job!!!

Thank you, Cynthia!

I felt embarrassed about them and wished I hadn't put the pics on here but you made me feel better.

All I think about now is when will I be able to make some more. I hope the next ones are better, I won't be so nervous about adding extras to them.

Ok, Cynthia, you asked for it.

I made a couple more yesterday and these "Circus Keeper Clowns" are wild.

So much fun! I'll take pics today.

Carol, your clown looks great! I love that idea!

Does anyone else agree with me that doing the tiny nostrils is HARD to get right!?

Yeah, I do! I think I do them about four or five times. They always seem to disappear on me

Thanks, Sue I LOVE your bunny!

Yes, the clown nose takes away the nostril problem, hehe. The one I did nostrils on sort of reminds me of a pig nose (not that there is anything wrong with that!)

Well, after closer inspection today when they came out of the kiln, ummm, the really cute one has a tiny red stringer running through the eyeball and the other one has different color cheeks and chin than the rest of the face. I will try again today.

Default since you asked :-)

the one super awful clown is going into the bad bead box

this one doesn't have a stringer on it I find it is the enamels that I put on near the end and it got all over the place!

lesson learned......

here is that one:

Default sad clown

In trying to make this more my own style, I didn't put the cheeks up near the eyes and now I have a very sad looking clown .

So, cheeks back up next time, lol!

My other two clowns are just too pathetic to show you.
