Default How much oxygen for a minor

I'm wondering if there's a benefit to running my Minor torch with 15 lpm oxygen from 2 oxycons.

I have a 10 lpm and a 5 lpm. So I guess there's a second question. Can I run 2 unequal oxycons together?

I have run my minor on a 5 and on a 10, but not together. The flame was a little hotter on the 10.

Yes, you can run them simultaneously!

I have a 5 and a 10 myself - I use the 5 for the inner ring and the 10 for the outer.

I'm running a GTT Scorpion, using mainly boro, btw.

As long as you keep the two oxycons on separate parts of the torch (inner ring and outer ring) they should work fine.

But if you try to tie them into one hose then the higher psi oxycon will just push against the lower psi unit and you won't get much, if any, benefit from it.

Oxycons are just specialized air compressors with stuff that acts like a filter to separate the oxygen in the air from the nitrogen in the air so you can make use of the oxygen.

Two oxycons of the same psi can be tied into one line but not two different psi units.

A minor only has one ring.

My minor ran perfectly on a single 5 lpm oxycon.

It also ran perfectly on a single 10 lpm.

Do not connect oxycons of different sizes.

Bummer.

I guess I need a bigger torch. I upgraded to a 10lpm and it's great but didn't know if the torch could handle 'overclocking' like we used to do to pc chips.

Well, I've used up to about 16 LPM on a stock Minor, and I'd only trust a 10LPM concentrator for about 8 LPM of pure-enough oxygen, so you still might be able to get more out of your torch.

Also, it can be upgraded, if not overclocked. Check out the Nortel Remix Mafia. Matty Phunk can upgrade your Minor to premix oxygen in with the propane, and it makes the Minor a considerably more powerful torch.
