Question Help with "sea salt" silver foil technique

Hi all,

I've purchased practically all of paradise beads' tutorials because I love Jenelle's work so much, especially the sea salt rounds. My problem is that whenever I apply the silver foil, I get the sea salt look on part of the bead, but part of it turns soupy yellow/gray on the surface of the bead. Am I heating too fast, using too much propane, something else? I tend to encase in CIM clear or effetre clear. Should I be using a different clear?

Any thoughts appreciated!

For the best results, make sure that you are using foil and not leaf (critical!!), that you burnish well and melt in the foil well. I use 006 Eff clear and I tend to melt in with less propane but not sure that really makes a big difference.

The main thing is that they need to be etched to get the full effect. If they are not etched, they will look like that.
