easy flame striking red
I am looking for a transparent red, that strikes easy in the flame. Most need a kiln to strike properly, but I used one before that was very, very easy to strike - even when deeply embedded in clear. Bummer I didn't note the name . . . . I should take more notes . . . I know. It was a beautiful ruby red and I found it perfect for color blends - so easy to strike to any shade between clear and fully red. Maybe you could recommend one????

Elvis Red for those that might overwork it, though Pomegranate is a cheaper alternative, I've had it liver before... Elvis odds if you can get some, other than that:
Elvis red is my favorite transparent red.

Sometimes I prefer the Pomegranate due to the fact it stays more transparent than elvis. sometimes elvis can get pretty dark on you. i would suggest both as great choices though.

I love pomegranate...just don't try to use it over bubblegum pink, it turned a gross brown on me, LOL.

The light Elvis is a perfect transparent for me.
It's lovely.

My 'go-to' red is NS Light Ruby. No boiling, no livering, and a really nice red.

I like Elvis and Pomegranate as well. Layer Elvis over clear to lighten it up.
You don't really have to do anything to Elvis to get red, it strikes on its own.

^ we have used both twirled with and encased in clear and the Elvis tends to go different shades on us (which looks great but might not be what you want) whereas the NS88 pomegranate tends to keep the same shade on all the levels.

Since were all talking about reds, I figure I will ask here and not start a new thread.
What is the darkest red, something that would look good on a shard over white?

Black Elvis is a very dark red.. It's almost brown unless you get it pretty thin... Regular Elvis is pretty dark over white in in solid forms, but on a shard it might thin down too much... Maybe try using crayon red instead of white with Elvis or pomegranite layered over it?
Well that's what I'd try, before I ordered more glass anyhow

Dark Red Elvis, AKA "Black Elvis" is super-saturated ruby, designed to be used thin and stay a nice transparent red. :<3:
