Default Frantz Bash

In an earlier post I said that there were no rooms available at Little Creek Casino for our BASH on August 21st 2010.

I was just on the phone and what they have available are suites and King Beds with handicap facilities. This usually means rails around the toilet and in shower/bath, a high toilet and a low bed. If you are looking for a place to stay at the Frantz BASH in August, give Little Creek a call.....and their number is 360 427 7711 and their website is

I do hope to see some of you here in August.

And remember it is free to come, free gifts, free demos, free food, glass sales, beautiful weather come for a day or stay forever....nicer than L.A. And if you like camping and want to save money, you are welcome to pitch a tent or park your R.V. Porta potties will be available and a gas mart is 1/4 mile walk and grocery stores and Wallmart is not even a 5 minute ride, but we are located in an airport and you are not in the city and you are surrounded by trees, fields of grass and TWO HUNDRED TONS of 104 glass by Effetre, Messy and Vetrofond

Do tell what the weather is like that time of the year. I am assuming that it is most likely jeans and sweatshirts, plus a lightweight jacket. Or are we talking long johns and thermals?

Oh no, usually it is warm (at leasts for us) in the 70s-80s. It has not rained on this weekend that I can remember.

Found this while goggling shelton weather.

"Shelton, WA climate is mild during summer when temperatures tend to be in the 60's and cold during winter when temperatures tend to be in the 40's.

The warmest month of the year is August with an average maximum temperature of 77.60 degrees Fahrenheit, while the coldest month of the year is December with an average minimum temperature of 32.80 degrees Fahrenheit."

Sounds tollerable! Now to get from the airport to the bash. 1 hour and 22 minute drive. Are there any "must see" things along the way?

Aleta, it's been pretty nice out the last couple of years -- I think I've ended up in sandals, light weight pants, t-shirt and a light weight jacket or long sleeved shirt of some sort that I've shed part way through the day.

If you want to do some sight seeing on the way down, the Museum of Glass in Tacoma is worth a stop.

I thought that it was only a one day event Nicole. Does this mean that there is a campfire party thing going on? If you bring a tent, wont the bears claw through it?

LOL, I remember one year a bunch of us got a room at the casino... we had dinner and drinks and lots of laughs. It had been a really hot day so it was nice to be able to just drive to the casino and hang out... plus at that point I lived in Vancouver, BC and it was a long drive plus a ferry ride.

It is about and hour and a half drive for me each way since I live closer now

Hey Mike: Is there any lodging close to your shop, that's a bit cheaper then $109-$119 per night (at the Casino) without having to pitch a tent? The more $$ I save on lodging, the more $$ I get to spend on glass and what nots!!!

Sandy

I stay at the Super 8. It is very close to the store (like 2-3 mins) and is mostly clean and cheep. Not as nice as the Casino, but much cheaper).

I'll see if I can borrow one of my friend's planes.

So Camp Counselor David, will there be provisions for those of who fly in? Meaning, will you have extra tents with sleeping bags set up for us? Plus all of the luxuries like a blow-up mattress? Just kidding.

The Super 8 is less, but not that nice of a hotel. Alderbrook is a great resort, but it cost more than the casino.

Camping is fun, and I even allow guests to grab a sofa or a cot and sleep in a building surrounded by 200,000 pounds of glass. I am positive there is always rooms in Olympia which is about 30 minutes away

We could just stay up all night and karaokee!

Thank You

OMG....... it's sounds like sooooo much fun but after calculating the cost of fuel (if we drove) air travel (if we're too lazy to drive), plus the cost of lodging, it's looking like I'm going to have to see everyone next year.

I can't tell you how bummed I truly am. I wanted to come to this last year and I told myself, dangdit...I'm going in 2010 but since the sweetie was laid-off last Oct. with no employment on the horizon, like so many other families, looks like I'll have to try again next year.

I'm sure you'all will have a blast!! Please post pics!!

I had hoped for this year but DH had spinal surgery a week ago and is still unemployed, so no trips are planned for this year. When I DO come I plan to have extra sleeping space - our trailer will sleep 8 adults comfortably. I love critters, even small rodents - had a field mouse for a pet for several years when I was a teenager (back in the dark ages).

There is also an historic old house in downtown Shelton called The Colonial House,it's really cool! I hear the rates are pretty good if a group wanted to go together and rent it.It has a huge kitchen and about 7 or 8 bedrooms. It's about 5 min.from Franz.I tried to find the website but not much luck.I'll see if I can find out more this week.

There is a very nice NW Indian Art museum and gallery on the opposite side of the highway (US101) from the casino about a half mile east (follow the signs). It's run by the tribe and is quite good. I've visited it half a dozen times; if you're lucky you might even meet one of the artists like I did.
There are also several very good fishing locations alone that stretch of hwy but you'al probably aren't interested in those

I made my reservations months ago to ensure I got in on the great, great lunch Mikey provides... reserve early! I think I will bring my little trailer this year and party hardy with everyone. Ruth has said she might be there; hope she doesn't change her mind.

PS - What's for lunch this year...Mex maybe??
