testing for fume inhalation
If a lampworker wanted to get a laboratory/blood test done to determine if he/she has been exposed to too many fumes, what kind of test or specific metals should that person be tested for (other that the obvious silver)?
Thank you!

Lead, Cadmium, Selenium, Silver, Gold, etc. Consult a doctor and let them make the call.

Thank you, Larry. I thought it would be good to be able to let the doctor know what I have possibly been exposed to.

What color are you using? Should be an msds available for it from the manufacturer which will tell you what is in it.

Hello Lisa,
all the colours in glass are produced by heavy metal oxides, all the way from common ones like nickel, iron, and cobalt to the rare eath metals like cerium and neodymium. If you thought you had been exposed to fumes from the glasses you had been working, you should ask for a full spectrum heavy metals scan, and liverfunction test. I hope your health fund is up to date because these tests will not be cheap. Wish you all the best Terry..!

I think my doctor did a heavy metals test after I told her what I did. It was normal.
