Question Optic mold

I bought an optic mold for making my own murrini. It has 16 grooves for the stringer. I have been having a heck of a time making a nice murrini cane!! I can;t seem to get it straight or even or large enough!! Any hints or tuts out there that you know of? I especially want to have a nice 'large' murrini flower on a bead and the only way I can make it look bigger is to encase it with a drop of clear. Thoughts??

the only thing i can suggest is to get a bigger gather and when you heat the glass up to pull it, let it cool for 2-4 seconds then pull just so the cane is being stretched to a straight but not bending or sagging. if you have it to hot ul get 1-2mm murrini
