Being a physicist by education, I'll chime in. If there are cracks you can make them travel (faster) by changing temperature, especially if the cracks are due to a difference in COE. Putting them in the freezer should do at least something. - So should putting them in the oven, for that matter. -

Here's another quickie test bead using White, Light Baby Green & an opaque light amethyst (?) plus the rod.
Does anyone know the name of this color?
Thanks,
Jack

Thanks for the information and the new thread on this glass. I just couldn't get through the other one to pick the good information out and it looked as if many were enjoying this glass and it's new colors. Off to order and I will be glad to post photos of what I come up with.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These are my comments in another thread:
"I ordered several pounds of this glass on Friday, 01-30-09, and it was delivered to my door on Monday, 02-02-09. From the state of Washington to Virginia. I have never ordered glass from any vendor and had it delivered that quickly. There was some breakage of mostly one color. I also think that this was due to the irregular rods and the rubber bands being to tight.
I played with the glass today. I like it. As others have stated it is a bit stiffer. I thoroughly abused this glass and did not get it to burn, bubble or loose color. I love the brown. OMG, for those of you who are looking for a dark choc brown, this is it. The white works nicely as a core, it does not bleed up on the edges of the transp. The Burgundy is very dense and looked best as stringer or as a light encasing over the white. The semi-op Marine is a lovely color by itself. I tried it with Dk Ivory. I really abused these two because I like the look of Dk Ivory over heated. This did make the color of the Marine a greener color and a dark center line in the Dk Ivory. V.272 works its magic as a base with stringer of Brown or Semi Op Marine. The stringer has a metallic edge. I was able to get the metallic fumed look but no edge with the Burgundy. I do not see any incompatibility cracks so far. None of the beads made have broken. I will post pictures when I get a chance to take them. "
Here are the pictures:

Lovely beads Jack and I am liken that purple as well! Nice combo with the baby green. The purple almost looks like a violet.
THANKs Maren for the info. It's good to know when I mix glass like vetro, lauscha and others to have a way to check quickly instead of waiting for weeks to see if it cracks.
As for clear ASK and compatibility, I have the same problem with lauscha clear and any silver glass or silver inclusion I add like silver foil or wire. It almost always cracks. So I don't think that is an ASK only problem.

No shit!! I went to the other thread to find out some answers and WOW! WTF??
So I'm sure this question has been answered but after that last thread I can't even see straight! Is this glass compatible with other 104 glasses?
Also how can I contact the seller?

I have made a few things with it so far. I love the Black Met, Burgundy, and the Butterscotch so far. I haven't had much time to play with it yet so my experience is limited.
But really, what I want most is....... Pictures!!!

For whatever it's worth, I did a crazy "cold to hot" test just in case it might push any incompatibility along. I put an assortment of beads that I was concerned about (not all Devardi, even) in the deep freeze for several hours, then took them out and dropped them into just-boiled water. The only damage done was on a few bits of swiped stringer which probably wasn't melted-on well to begin with.
The majority of the beads were either Devardi base colors cased in Vetro clear or CIM Peace cased with Devardi transparents. Small beads, but when I've done this in the past with "confused" clear (blush--I have an ID system now!), they've all cracked by the time this was all done. Certainly it's not foolproof, though.
Oh! I tried some of Val's frit on that lovely sky blue...no weird reactions and no cracking there, either. Finally, a blue that doesn't metallize!
I WILL post pics tomorrow. The light here today has been awful because it's been all gray and blustery.

Me too with the freezer. Wow Karen, your brutal. I didn't do the boil afterward Mine are fine too so far. Looking forward to your pics.
Kristina. So far I have had no problems with using the Devardi with other 104 glasses. You can find them on Ebay. Just type in Devardi glass. Sorry I'm too lazy to pull up the link. I'm on an Itouch right now .

Thank you so much. Is it the Butterscotch you are referring too? I have tried it and I really like it.

One of my favorite is the semi opaque red. Here I paired it with EDP and added some of Renee Wiggins' murrini.

Theresa, I love your murrini and both those colors look good. I don't think I have those colors. Oh wait, I do have the EDP. I just realized you said that. I don't have the red though.
Michelle, I will be looking forward to seeing what you come up with. I can't wait to see your pictures.
Thanks!

The EDP and the red are great together! I will have to add this combo to my "try together" list. (yes it I have one!)

Do NOT use Devardi with glass from silver glass manufacturers - Double Helix, Precision, TAG - including Diamond Clear!!!
If you are interested, here is a link to all my Devardi beads that cracked:

Hi Hayley, what a shame about the beads. I hope you don't mind if I offer a theory. Your beads are too beautiful to give up so soon.
When I first made beads with the Devardi, I also got fracture similar to your beads and one of them also broke parallel to the mandrel. Since they did not appear to be the spider web type of incompatibility, I decided that Devardi may be similar to Lauscha and needed higher annealing temperature and slower cool down. So far the beads I made after I reprogrammed my kiln are fine. These 3 have Devardi baby blue, baby green, CIM celadon, copper green, V streaky sappire, dichroic, and a few dots of DH pandora. I will report back if any of them self destroy.
I will continue to test because I like the colors.

Pretty beads Mary!
Did you use a Lauscha schedule from a thread here?
I think Carolanne said something about that in a Lauscha thread, I just have to remember which one. Off to search.
Thanks for the info!
