Where Glass & Metal Meet
Kristina Logan & Ellen Wieske
SATURDAY & SUNDAY , FEB . 21 (10AM –6PM) & 22 (10AM –4PM)
Wondering what to do with all those beads? This class is specifically
designed for glass beadmakers who want to set their beads into jewelry.
Internationally recognized glass beader Kristina Logan and metalsmith
Ellen Wieske offer this collaborative workshop where they will
teach approaches to “marrying” glass and metal. Instructors will explain
and demonstrate jewelry making techniques designed to enable and
empower students to use their beads in projects such as: rings, brooches,
and pendants. Students will learn jewelry techniques such as: simple
to complex soldering, prong setting, bezel setting, troubleshooting, finishing,
and surface treatment. Experimentation will be strongly encouraged.
Students will be encouraged to take their work to the next level to
expand their skills and extend their possibilities. All levels of experience
are welcome. There will be no time for beadmaking in this class and all
class time will be devoted to working in SAC’s metal shop with pre-made
beads. Lab fee (payable to Sharon Arts with registration): $20. Materials/Metals fee payable to instructor: $20-$40
(depending on scope of your project).
M $400, NM $450.
