Default broken midrange

Hi

After asking everyone on here about my gas leak awhile ago I was given the advice that the leak was probably somewhere on the torch and to try the soapy water again this time on the torch. Well the advice was great because big huge soapy bubbles started blowing up and popping on one of the joins.

Now silly me instead of just trying to tighten the nut I unscrewed it and now cant get it back on and I think I de-threaded the nut.
I can't get it off because under the nut is a funny metal thing that is pointed that made the seal. The other end of the metal semi circle tube thing is welded on.
if you look at this photo on sundance website the photo with the number #16027 the one on left http://www.sundanceglass.com/midranger.htm look at the red nob at the top of the torch. Just slightly down and to the right is the hexagon shaped nut (half hidden by the body of the torch) that is de-threaded.

I have organised for the torch to go to an Aussie importer of the torches to fix it for me but do you think I could fix it myself somehow?
I suspect though maybe a whole new part will have to be ordered?

I don't know if I made sense about what is wrong with the torch. I am dying to melt boro again. I have a full bottle of oxy that has been sitting here since january that is costing me a mint in hire fees.

thanks for any help.

Oh and does nortel have an official website?
thanks
LEanne

Am I right in thinking that the nut is on a piece of copper tubing? Is the tubing flared?

You might just bring it into a plumbing store and have them take a look into it. These kind of fittings are pretty common.

What about a local welding shop?
