Default Green glass issues

Hi, with almost all my greens (Green Grass, Petroleoum, CIM's Olive, etc.) I get a dark line down the center of my bead. Is there any way to prevent this? Really frustrated 'cause I've seen pictures of other people's green beads and even though they're a little streaky they don't have this evil dark line bisecting the bead.

Thanks!

What color are you using the green on? I know that it will do this on certain colors like Opal yellow, lime green and turquoise, but I've not seen it do that on every color.

I'm not using the green on any color. This just happens when I make a simple, undecorated doughnut bead.

Hmmm, I've seen it with Petroleum green but don't remember if I've had that with the others. I'll have to play with them. Kind of a variegated look is what your getting?

This thread might help.

Those particular colors just do that often.

I believe it relates to heating just the center belly of the bead. Try keeping the mantrel Latrell to the ground but angling so the flame hits the side. Then switch to the other side as you are rounding out the bead.

Eta: oh just a shade to slow.

Yeah, a variegated look is exactly what i'm getting. The stripes down the center of the bead. Almost every darker green I use does that. Even the light greens do it but the stripe is so light you can't really see it and it doesn't interfere with my decoration, like in the flower bead on the left.

Here's a photo, sorry about the quality, it's on my coworker's iPhone.

Thanks, Rebecca, for directing me to that other thread! I'll try the suggestions tonight and see what happens.

I didn't get to make a single bead this weekend. I hate when my plans are all shot to hell like that.
