Add yours: I'll never do That again!
What have you done that made you say you'll never do it again?
Mine came today, when I found some glass I had put into bundles and wrapped them together with masking tape. I think it has been that way a couple of years. In Florida heat. Sticky doesn't quite convey the mess left on the rods when I took off the tape. I tried alcohol, finger nail polish, pulling it off with tape, and I forget what all.
What worked the best was dousing it with vegetable oil, then rubbing it off with a paper towel after a few moments for the oil to melt it a bit.

Oh I can imagine all the time spent with that!
Mine is just the opposite. Leaving rods in the rubber banded bundles they came in, and not labeling. The old one, the bands broke or left residue and all the labels fell off! I do it differently now but still have a bunch of maybes.

I'm envisioning a new fashion trend.
Silver leaf on lips--and sparkly teeth and gums. (Because I KNOW you HAD to get some in your mouth.)

Ack Eileen what a mess! Last week I had just finished cleaning beads, had them in one hand, mandrels in the other. I went and bounced the mandrels to straighten them up and managed to put one thur my index finger. I was down by the palm and didn't really bleed much. I took bolt cutters up and asked dh to cutoff the top of the mandrel and pull it down and out. It looked worse than it was but I'll not straighten mandrels again when my hands are full. Yuk

I keep my frit in canning jars on shelves that are in a very bright window. Labels written with a Sharpy fade faster than you might think. I'm in the process of painting the names on. Guess what else is labeled and stored in that light....

Assume the post office carries the flare rate box I need.
The order was $45 the postage paid was $14
After realizing i was out of boxes and calling 6 post office brances
paid $38 for something that would fit in one of the skinny large flat rates last week.

Oh man, BTDT! I don't think I ever got it all out of the carpet runner; my clothes I could throw in the washer.

Eileen, when I bought my apartment in 2010, I had no money left for renovation and repair, so I had to somehow use my couple of hands to do what I never tried before.
That summer for almost two months the temperature exceeded 100F and the masking tape I placed on ceramic tiles... You know what happened. Dishwahing liquid, alcohol. acetone, etc - nothing could remove that stuff after a couple of weeks.
Finally I bought a small bottle of "label off" by UHU (gel-ish liquid that smells orange and softens the residue of this masking tape glue) and took the scrapper for cooking surfaces. And one by one I cleaned those 4 inch tiles first applying the liquid, then scratching away, wiping, rinsing... But try "label off", it should be available in stationary shops or departments and it deals with a lot of tough stickers.
BUT. Thin rubber bands work exactly the same. I sorted my glass, put together the colours from different shipments and wrapped with those thin handy rubber things. Some of them cracked and adhered to the glass. And last night I spent about an hour scratching those nasty small coloured rubber pieces away.

FYi - masking tape - btdt - fyi WD40 works good as well to dissolve the gum....
My Never do that again would be to buy Costco foam pads to place around the workbench and within marble rolling distance from the torch bench.
Why? When you knock a marble out of your marble mold and it rolls onto the foam pads that you placed down to ease your feet from the concrete floor over at the work table - they melt really well and leave a stench that takes forever to get out of the studio....It also leaves a permanent reminder in your foam pad that you had a moment.......
I too laughed at silver foil - sometimes the simplest , most innocent things we do , end up becoming amusement for someone else a the expense of our pride /wink....

For removing sticker/tape residue, I use Goo Be Gone (spell check). It doesn't need to soak. I just squirt a little on a paper towel and wipe away. Sometimes it takes a second dose.
Not labeling rods and "remembering what they are" later is my "I'll never do that again." I organized about a week ago and plan on STAYING organized.
For a month.
Maybe.

good luck! I do great labeling sometimes, and other times I put them in the cabinet telling myself I will do it later... bad idea.

I set up a torch to demonstrate lampworking outside at a small town side walk once.
It is almost impossible to see the flame in such bright lighting and I wound up burning the snot out of my thumb knuckle.
I think it was one of the most painful things I have ever done to myself and I will never ever do that again.
I am still amazed that I have not one single trace of that particular screw up.
Not a mark remains.
Something about the Deity looking out for fools and small children I think.
