Default Opinion in the Jenken Kiln with the 4" bead door

Ony one use this Kiln? Any down side \ maintnence issues? I looks pretty good, to me a tad expensive though....

Also I see a lot of you batch anneal your beads, is there a down side to turning on the l kiln getting it up to temp ( ~960) and putting in the beads as they are finished? Then running the annealing program once you are finished bead making? I looks like the JenKen has a program just for this purpose.

There is no "down" side to "garaging" beads (directly into hot kiln) while at torch... It is actually preferred method IF you are doing enough beads to make it worthwhile (a production run - large set(s))...

If you are only making a few beads per session then batch annealing is (may be) more practical...

The Jenken kilns are very reasonably priced. I purchased my Fuse box II about 10 years ago and it was almost $900.00 back then. Bead doors are great and I have two four inch bead doors in my kiln and wish it was bigger.

My next kiln will be a Paragon with the door that I can raise easily to any height I want. We used them at Eugene School of Glass and I knew it would be my next kiln.

I would buy the best kiln with a controller I could afford with the largest bead door. It might be a little large but you will grow into it.
