I bought a nautilus press. I made one with lines of Blue lighting and Mystery Aventurine, and one w/ dichroic. I like how the press distorts the image. Thanks for taking a look.

Killer new toy Dave! Marcel, your work is gorgeous as always!

As usual, just beads from me. But I do have a Christmas angel that I am thinking about posting. She came out pretty great considering going off mandrel is something I rarely do! She just needs to be fixed to a base and she'll be ready for pictures. Maybe I'll post her, if the pics turn out decent!

But for now.... beads! Geaux Tigers!

I know I hate that you can't capture the real way boro looks, but don't worry, we know. Your work is awesome. That orange red flower is so pretty, but so are the rest.
Thanks for sharing and inspiring.

Beautiful! Would you mind sharing what color/type of class you've used to achieve that sparkle? I'm still a newbie, and after making my first flower implosion with a petal cane I used super unobtainium for... ugh, i realized it was not a good idea, it had spider cracks when it came out of the kiln the sparkle is not even visible in most lighting, because I used so little of it. Thank you!

I have had good luck using the new transparent sparkly from Glass Alchemy over another color and then doing flower implosion. Paparazzi, Sapphire, or Tiger's Eye and even Jackpot by its self as long as you follow the information on the GA site and Garage at 975° F, Anneal at 1050° F.

I use heavy blue stardust layered with other colors for the sparkle when I do implosions and I have never had an issue with it. I also use Jackpot either by itself or layered and I have not had any issues. Almost any of the sparkle colors or greens are no problem as long as you use an oxidizing flame and make sure you have NO reduction. They all encase well. The only time I have had any issues was when my flame was not oxygen rich.

This, plus garage @ 975 will avoid most issues. Just a heads up: Based on my personal experience, unless you go with what looks like a VERY oxidizing flame on concentrators, you will get enough reduction to kill your sparkle colors. YMMV but if you're having troubles despite everything else, that's probably it.

I did have a reasonable amount of success with implosions/compressions even on concentrators if I made a cane with a thin layer of sparkle glass over a gather of color. I used lochness a lot for that, I love the dark outlines it gives the imploded color. Once again, your mileage may vary but that's what's worked for me. Have fun!

As Bunyip said.... a VERY oxidizing flame. I actually garage at 1050 but I think I get away with it because I do those implosions last so they have a shorter garaging time and also I used to use tanked O2. I use liquid O2 now and always have a surplus of oxygen. So, for what works for me personally is a LOT of O2 and not the slightest hint of reduction.

For whatever reason, when you layer a small amount of lochness, it seems to spread out enough not to check. I used it over crayon colors for the most part. With cherry it gives a great black sparkle outline.

I found unobtanium & super unobtanium to be far less forgiving, however. Never made a piece with encased unob that didn't check until I got on tanked.
