Is there another glass that behaved like the discontinued Fool's Gold? I love the bubbles in the photos- especially your nee galaxy, Mary. The golden color of the bubbles almost sounds like what brass shavings do. I wonder if powdered brass might work if we could find such a thing.

You could make your own brass powder by purchasing a brass pipe fitting for plumbing work and file it. Collect the filings over a paper plate and then put them in a comtainer for future use.

I have used a copper pot scrubber to get a similar effect. Hold the scrubber over a container like a cup and use scissors to trim off small pieces and then you can use the pieces like frit.

Be careful of the fumes whenever using any metal. I have a respirator/mask that I use when I do this sort of stuff.

Actually there are some other glasses that you can get to bubble, you just have to boil them, the opposite of what you usually want to do. Jackpot will boil pretty well, and so does lochness, the fool's gold just works so well, maybe they will make it again. I would not suggest using brass shavings for the risk of inhaling anything from it.
