Default How to add dots to etched beads

I'm thinking I know how to do this, but I want to make sure. If I etch a bead, how to I go back & put dots on it? Do you have slowly bring them up to temp in the kiln then put the dots on them & stick them back in the kiln? Any advise is appreciated. I've only been at this for 9 months.

Any etching you do will be un-done when you put it back in the flame. Better to add the dots the first time, then mask with nail polish or a sticker or what ever lends itself to the shape you need to cover up and then etch.
