Question For those with a Chili Pepper

For Programs 1 & 2--manual says it ramps to hold temp as fast as it can. Does anyone have a ball-park figure as to how long it takes? I'm trying to plan my torch session tonight and have only used Programs 3 and 4 in the past. Thanks.

It's all based on what you set it as and what your hold temp is. If you have it set to ramp at full to 950, then it takes 10-15 mins. Hmm. Maybe 20. It's been a while, but it's usually at temp by the time I finish my 1st bead.

Thanks, Shawnette! The hold is set at 960, so it looks like 20 minutes or so. That's the lot faster than I thought. Then again, I'm used to using the batch annealing program which takes 3 hours to ramp to 960.

You are using a program that takes 3 hours before you can make your first bead? If so, you need to change it.

I'm hoping she means that is a batch annealing program...

My chili pepper gets to 950 in about 12 minutes if the ramp is full.

Thanks all for the information. I've gotten to the point where batch annealing is OK for small, plain beads, but with the bigger ones I'm making and ones with silver, I want to put them right into the kiln.
