Filtering Lens for lampworking question
Anyone familiar with this style of "filtering glasses"? As I wear glasses I like the size and the price seems great for fit overs. I am concerned about the lens color. I haven't seen this color used for sodium flare reduction. Anyone have the scoop? Here is the website: https://www.clearanceit.com/index.ph...roduct_id=2607
Thanks!!
Zeke!!

I haven't seen this color, either-- and since there are no technical specs there it's really hard to determine what they are and what they're (really) for. I use the Phillips Fitover http://www.artcoinc.com/phillips_safety.php and have been very happy with them. They're very durable.

Thanks for the reply. I will check out the fitovers you have. Scary that these lenses are supposedly for lampworking and for sale on a lampworking oriented site but may not be safe for glasswork. I think I will look elsewhere for my safety equipment.
Thanks again!

if you only need glasses and not fit overs
the best price I have found is Olympic color rods - $35.99

Phillips Safety is now offering some plastic (polycarbonate) lens glasses that do have the yellow sodium-flair filtration. The ones above do look like the ones Phillips has ...
http://www.phillips-safety.com/store...roducts_id=585
My experience with polycarbonate lenses is that:
1) They tend to scratch easier than the glass (Phillips ACE) lenses,
2) Some brands seem to fade over time, and
3) Some brands have cheap, flimsy frames (I've seen these particular glasses, though, and the frames actually look pretty good).
Malcolm
PS: I have not worn these while at the torch, so I have no first-hand experience with their filtering.

I'm interested in this product as well. I wear multi focal glasses and have tried clip ons and fit overs but they are not comfortable. I' ve ask before about this product but didn't receive much comment. It looks lightweight and comfortable so if anyone has tried this please give your comments. Thanks!

@NWMUD I do need fitovers to accommodate my regular glasses, without them, I am sure my torch days would be very short. Thank you though for the reply and recommendation.
@Malcolm I appreciate your input, especially on something that your company doesn't even carry. That says a lot to me about the kind of person you are. I also appreciate your first hand experience with the wear-ability of these fitovers. Too bad someone with first hand torch time with these lenses hasn't chimed in. Also your advice of the limits on the poly lenses will not be overlooked.
@chimehk I agree, style isnt bad, price is great for something with such large lenses. Would be nice for an owner of these to step forward.
