Default Help, please? Flame pulses--it's not the oxycon!

Using a Minor on an oxycon and NG. I've asked the question before: what is causing my flame to pulse? From a neutral flame it slowly dies down to a 3mm blue flame and then will suddenly poof to a yellow flame. It's not the oxycon...I just lit the torch without it and the flame pulsed. So it's either my torch or the NG supply. How can I figure out which it is?

Do you have a regulator on your NG?

Simplest answer is your NG. Simplest test is to either plug a different torch into it or your torch into a different supply.

This happened to me during show season also. I'm on a minor, propane and 2 oxy cons. It turned out to be the valve on the torch gas knob. I let it go to the point where I couldn't turn the flame off, hey it was show season. I'm lucky that Nortel is about 10 min from me and Pat hooked me up with a new torch and had my old one fixed for free. My torch was about 11yrs old and I guess it's something that happens over time.

You know what, I think it could be the torch valve. A couple of times this week it wouldn't light and I checked to make sure I'd turned the gas on at the wall.

I'll see if anyone can let me borrow one until I get through this week.

Thanks, everyone, for the great advice!

Just thought I'd follow up with the resolution. It was the NG line. The regulator at the street malfunctioned and would slow the flow of gas because it thought there was too much being released. I'm back in business!
